Green P Community Farm – a refugee women-led project

The Sandgate and Bracken Ridge Action Group is a community-based organisation working within Brisbane North aiming to create community connections that strengthen and support individuals, families and communities. The Green P Community Farm is a social-environmental project led by refugee women.
The farm currently has 77 plots where farm members from Bhutan, Burma, Solomon Islands, New Zealand, South Sudan, PNG, and Tanzania gather, grow, and share food. The farm is a friendly space where multicultural families are welcomed, valued, and engaged in a diversity of community building and cross-cultural sharing activities, while supporting their food security, health and well-being.
Green P Community Farm were awarded one of the two $50,000 Women & Change grants in 2022 aned this will be used to support the evolution of this community hub model. The funds will improve garden infrastructure and resources, offer educational opportunities, childcare and trauma healing workshops. The project will bring together refugee members and Australian community members to share their skills, while improving their well-being, skills, social connections, and food security.
